Summary: The Platform Engineer role is a contract position focused on building and scaling backend systems and APIs for an AI social media start-up expanding into the US market. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and backend engineering, particularly with technologies like TypeScript, Docker, and AWS. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement and is outside IR35, with a competitive daily rate. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and scale backend systems and APIs for the product experience.
- Collaborate closely with the iOS team to deliver customer-focused features.
- Manage infrastructure using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Address skills gaps in Cloud, Infrastructure, and DevOps.
- Communicate effectively about system operations and architecture.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of commercial experience as a Backend Engineer.
- Proficient in TypeScript, NodeJS (Express), Docker, Terraform, and AWS.
- Experience with Postgres and B2C applications.
- Strong systems design and architecture skills.
- Excellent communication skills.

The company is already generating crazy amounts of traffic to their application and are releasing features weekly, with incredible speed and impact. They are now looking to bolster the lean close-knit team, with a Full stack Platform engineer, who can drive forward all things Cloud, Infrastructure and DevOps (addressing a skills gap they currently have). The business is well positioned financially and are looking to raise more money as they are set to scale the US. This is a great opportunity to join a company with an incredible office and culture - ideally you can visit the office weekly, but can be fully remote for someone excellent!

You’ll build and scale the backend systems and APIs that power our product experience, working closely with the iOS team to deliver features customers love.
5+ years commercial experience working commercially as an Backend Engineer.
Experienced managing Infrastructure with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
TypeScript, NodeJS (express), Docker, Terraform AWS, Postgres
B2C exposure ideally
Excellent communicator (especially about how things work under the hood)
Strong with Systems Design and Architecture design
