Summary: The Piping Designer role involves providing mechanical static design support for modifications and projects within the oil and gas sector in Calgary, AB. The position requires the development of construction work packages and mechanical engineering design support for piping systems and static equipment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide mechanical static design support for modifications and projects under Opex /Maintenance budgets to tackle threats to availability and sustainable operations
  • Development of Construction Work Packages (CWP’s) associated with Mechanical Static discipline
  • Provide mechanical engineering design support to maintenance and construction teams for the fabrication of piping systems through selection of piping classes, review and/or development of piping layouts, Isometrics, fabrication drawings, pipe stress analysis, pipe supports design and valves & fittings selection
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for the design and fabrication of pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, tanks and static equipment in general

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Materials or equivalent discipline with 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in static equipment design in oil and gas/ refining /petrochemical /mining /energy facilities
  • P.Eng designation or eligible for P.Eng in Alberta
  • Familiarity with Heavy Oil mining sites considered a plus
  • Solid work knowledge of applicable piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks and heat exchangers industry standards and codes (ASME, API, ISO, TEMA, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of piping stress analysis softwares (Cesar II, AutoPipe or equivalent)
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor or Solid Works
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels design softwares (Compress or PVelite)
