Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage water companies permit to work (PTW) system.
  • Interpret water main design drawings and job packs.
  • Measure and calibrate water mains.
  • Distinguish between existing pipe materials and joints.
  • Develop contingency plans and temporary works design for pressure testing.
  • Design thrust block requirements.
  • Handle discharge licenses including flow rates.
  • Implement the 3-stage DENSO process for buried flanged joints.
  • Select appropriate pipe-cutting equipment.
  • Reinstate valves, hydrants, and other water network equipment.
  • Ensure proper bolt torque and documentation recording.
  • Safely carry out tasks set by the site management team or ganger.

The Pipe Fitter/ Mains Layer is required to cover works within the Southern region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Water companies permit to work (PTW) System
  • Water main design drawings service drawings and job packs
  • PE pipes with their properties and characteristics
  • Measuring and calibrating water mains
  • Able to distinguish between existing pipe materials and joints
  • Contingency plans and their requirements
  • Temporary works design for pressure testing
  • Thrust block requirements and design
  • Discharge licenses including flow rates
  • 3-stage DENSO process for buried flanged joints
  • Correct choice of pipe-cutting equipment
  • Reinstate of valves, hydrants, and other water network equipment
  • The Importance of bolt torque and recording documentation
