Summary: The role of Orthogeriatric and Surgical In Reach Geriatric Consultant at the Royal Oldham Hospital involves providing specialized care for older patients undergoing surgery, focusing on orthogeriatric and peri-operative care. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management, and treatment for complex geriatric medicine needs.
- Care for patients on the orthogeriatric unit and in vascular, general surgery, and urology.
- Act as an expert resource for medical, nursing, and other healthcare professionals.
- Champion high-quality medicine for older people locally and regionally.
- Contribute to general medical components of the job.
- Engage in the development of specialist services for older patients.
- Participate in the Acute Frailty Network and improvement initiatives.
- Support mentoring and development of junior staff.
Key Skills:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practice.
- Specialist registration for Geriatric Medicine and General (Internal) Medicine or within 6 months of CCT.
- Experience in peri-operative care for older patients or a dedicated orthogeriatric service.
- Strong leadership and clinical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
