Summary: The Non-Functional Test Analyst role is a mid-level contract position based in London, focusing on ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of trading platforms for a leading industrial commodity trading firm. The successful candidate will engage in rigorous performance testing methodologies to maintain system stability and support global operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive end-to-end non-functional testing processes, including requirements analysis and load modelling
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish performance benchmarks and success criteria
  • Report progress and results to the Non-Functional Test Lead
  • Create comprehensive performance evaluation reports with actionable insights
  • Design and develop automated and manual performance test scripts aligned with documented approaches
  • Execute performance tests according to established test plans and document any deviations
  • Generate appropriate test data for load testing scenarios
  • Document and report defects discovered during testing cycles
  • Conduct retesting of resolved issues to verify fixes
  • Collect and analyze test results, providing interpretation of how applications may perform in production
  • Work cross-functionally with technical leads, infrastructure teams, and developers to resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Assist in application tuning and optimization based on test findings

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience with JMeter (Java plugin development knowledge a plus) and HP LoadRunner
  • Ability to build test harnesses for various protocols including FIX, TCP-based binary messages, HTTP, and WebSockets
  • Proficiency in analysing system metrics including CPU utilization, memory consumption, and Java heap analysis
  • Expertise in performance, capacity, and stress testing methodologies
  • Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems, with Linux performance tuning experience
  • Understanding of relational databases (MS-SQL Server, MySQL) and web Servers (IIS)
  • Experience monitoring performance across operating systems, databases, and web Servers
