Summary: The Network Engineer role in Chester involves joining a small IT managed service team to implement and operate voice and data communications systems. The engineer will ensure optimal performance and reliability while managing incident and problem resolution. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide incident and problem management for supported systems.
- Install, set up, and test equipment, working with vendors and external teams.
- Ensure effective change and asset management for supported systems.
- Monitor systems and produce quantified performance metrics.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with governance standards and best practices.
- Manage the operation of voice, video, and network services.
- Provide support for telephony, network patching, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing.
- Ensure changes are accurately logged, approved, and documented within the CMDB.
- Generate reports on system performance and maintain monitoring protocols.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Information and Communications Technology or equivalent experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in Routing & Switching, Voice, or Security (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of IT service requirements and vendor evaluation.
- Knowledge of ITIL methodology (preferred but not essential).
- Experience managing LAN and WAN networks for voice and data communications.
- Detailed knowledge of Cisco networking, including Routers, Switches, and wireless LAN systems.
- Expertise in Cisco voice communication systems.
- Proven ability to monitor, report, and optimize network performance.
