Summary: The Network / Cloud / DevOps Engineer role focuses on supporting a high-profile defence programme through the design and implementation of secure infrastructure as part of a cloud migration initiative. This is a hybrid role based in Reading or Warton, requiring attendance in the office 2-3 times every two weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure and maintain secure network infrastructure for defence environments.
- Build and manage cloud solutions (AWS / Azure) with a focus on resilience and compliance.
- Implement DevOps practices to automate deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are secure, scalable and fit for purpose.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across network, cloud and application layers.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in network engineering (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) in secure environments.
- Proficiency in DevOps tools (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Scripting knowledge (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Previous experience in defence, government, or secure environments.
