Summary: The role of Legacy Technologies Network Architect involves designing and implementing network solutions within the secure Defence and National Security sector. The position requires collaboration with service and project teams to deliver cost-effective services while ensuring compliance with governance reviews. Candidates must possess a valid UK SC clearance and be prepared for hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of network issues. The role is full-time and based in Birmingham, with travel requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement medium/large network solutions for Defence and National Security projects.
- Produce design collateral and ensure compliance with governance reviews.
- Provide hands-on configuration and implementation support for network devices.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure effective handover to service.
- Implement security measures, including encryption and secure routing protocols.
- Manage bandwidth and ensure reliable data transmission for real-time applications.
- Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and collaborate within project teams.
Key Skills:
- Familiarity with Legacy circuit-switched networks and point-to-point connectivity.
- Experience in designing and implementing TDM networks and related technologies.
- Skills in configuring and managing Routers, Switches, and other network devices.
- Knowledge of SDH, WDM, ATM, Frame-Relay, and circuit to packet emulation.
- Ability to implement QoS for bandwidth management.
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving network issues.
- Demonstrable design experience and production of technical documentation.
- Solid understanding of project end-to-end life cycle.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in the defence sector.
