Summary: The IT Network Engineer role based in Glasgow involves configuring and maintaining network devices within enterprise environments, supporting continual improvement initiatives, and collaborating with colleagues for technical decision-making. The position requires lifecycle management of network devices and providing technical support for complex issues. The role is remote and classified as inside IR35, with a contract duration of 12 months. The day rate for this position is £399.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuration and maintenance of routing, switching and security devices within the enterprise campus and Data Centre environments.
- Support the delivery of continual improvement initiatives to demonstrably reduce risk and increase performance, efficiency and productivity.
- Working collaboratively with other colleagues and contribute towards technical decision making, to deliver results and identify ways to improve performance and effectiveness.
- Lifecycle management for all network devices including upgrades, capacity management and succession planning.
- Liaising with project management team, 3rd line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis.
- Support delivery of Network/Voice solution design documents.
- Technical support for complex problems and sharing of specialist experience.
- Using knowledge of network design principles to develop advanced switching and routing, security, Data Centre, architectures with VPN and wireless domains.
Key Skills:
- Collaborative team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate significant network and voice experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching (CCNP Routing & Switching) or equivalent level of experience.
- Experienced with firewalls especially working with Cisco, Fortigate, Juniper or Palo Alto.
- Strong technical expertise with Cisco devices, including ACI.
- Financial Industry knowledge.
- Network Security.
- Detailed knowledge in TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, Wireless, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and network monitoring tools.
- Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems and services.
- Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite (MSP, PowerPoint etc.) and ServiceNow.
