Summary: The Mechanical and Piping Designer for Gas Projects at Bilfinger UK is responsible for producing Mechanical and Piping designs across various sectors, including Oil & Gas and Nuclear. This role involves working on both small and large projects, from concept to execution, while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. The designer will collaborate with project teams, participate in design reviews, and drive quality in engineering designs. A strong background in M&P design and proficiency in relevant software is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce Mechanical and Piping designs within single and multi-discipline projects.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews supporting the Lead Designer & Engineering Project Manager.
- Interpret Engineering line diagrams and develop them into Engineering designs.
- Identify changes to design scope and report to the Project Design Lead & Engineering Project Manager.
- Drive quality in all Engineering designs and check discipline design deliverables.
- Coach and mentor team members.
- Produce design deliverables including 3D models, GA drawings, and Piping Isometrics.
- Assist in site surveys of existing assets and produce site survey reports.
- Liaise with project teams to ensure correct deliverables are being worked on.
- Assist Engineers with the selection of mechanical equipment.
Key Skills:
- More than 5 years of experience as an M&P designer in Engineering/EPCM/EPC companies.
- Deep knowledge of Autodesk Plant 3D or similar software.
- Sound knowledge of M&P engineering and design, as well as other disciplines (Instrumentation, Civil/Structural, and Process).
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred).
- Incorporated Engineer (Preferred).
- Experience with laser scanning of sites (Preferred).
- Proficient in main M&P design packages including AutoCAD 3D and Navisworks.
- Experienced with Intelligent design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D or PDMS/E3D.
- Sound understanding of current British/European and international standards such as ASME.
