Summary: This role as a Matter Administrator at CMS involves supporting the Finance administration function of a leading global law firm on a Fixed Term Contract until January 2027. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining client and matter data integrity within the CMS billing system (Elite 3E).
  • Vetting new client and matter requests against Risk & Compliance, Finance & Client specific rules.
  • Prioritising workstreams using a ticketing system (Enate) to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Liaising with Partners, Fee Earners, and other Finance functions globally.
  • Assisting the Commercial Finance team with panel rate agreements and yearly rate increases.
  • Working with data teams to cleanse the billing system of inaccurate/duplicated data.

A fantastic opportunity to join a fast paced, Finance administration function at a leading global law firm, supporting both fee earners and wider finance teams with Client/Matter inception and billing on a Fixed Term Contract until January 2027.

About The Role

The Matter Administrator role forms a central cog within the wider Finance function at CMS. It is a fast paced, dynamic position, constantly evolving to meet the firm, and its clients, requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintaining client and matter data integrity within the CMS billing system (Elite 3E), including hourly charge out rates for Fee Earners.
  • Vetting new client and matter requests against a multitude of Risk & Compliance, Finance & Client specific rules, before ensuring the accurate and timely transfer of the data into the billing system.
  • Prioritisation of different workstreams through use of a ticketing system (Enate) to ensure both team and firm Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met.
  • Liaising with Partners, Fee Earners and other Finance functions around the globe to facilitate a seamless process from Client/Matter inception to billing and ultimately cash collection.
  • Assisting the Commercial Finance team by maintaining panel rate agreements with key clients and conducting yearly rate increases to ensure profitability including any subsequent reversals where the increase has been rejected.
  • Working with other CMS data teams to cleanse the billing system of historic inaccurate/duplicated data

  • Solid understanding of basic Maths & Microsoft Excel - ability to manipulate monetary amounts (currency conversions, percentage increase/decrease etc.)
  • Able to analyse letters, emails and spreadsheets etc. pick out the key points and identify errors/trends
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines (hours not days) and prioritise workload to ensure SLAs for multiple workstreams are consistently met
  • Desire to ask questions, think outside the box, problem solve and suggest ways to simplify processes/data
  • Willing to perform routine data cleansing tasks
  • Confidence to make own decisions and take responsibility for them
  • A desire to grow their knowledge and skills in the Finance function, supporting management and wider business
