Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer will be integral to enhancing production efficiency by developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment. This role involves assessing new technologies, maintaining production equipment, and providing technical support for complex production issues. The engineer will also collaborate with quality teams to recommend process improvements and ensure compliance with industry standards. A proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication across all organizational levels is essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and implement new technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing plans for new and existing products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Keep production equipment operational through first-level maintenance and coordination of advanced repairs.
  • Troubleshoot production breakdowns and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Create programs for automated/programmable equipment.
  • Analyse equipment and methods to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation; train staff on procedures and best practices.
  • Provide technical support for complex production issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to analyse trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Apply root cause analysis to resolve daily assembly and production issues.
  • Control and maintain manufacturing documentation in line with industry standards.
  • Carry out additional engineering duties as required.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in Engineering (BEng or equivalent) - desirable.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with computerised manufacturing systems such as ERP and MRP.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects effectively.
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies.
