Summary: The Manufacturing Bid Lead role at a world-class defence organisation in Bolton involves leading the generation of manufacturing bids and ensuring compliance with industrial policies. The position requires a strong background in manufacturing or production, along with experience in bid management. The role is hybrid, requiring 1-2 days per week on-site, and is initially a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to develop competitive and compliant bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the generation of manufacturing bids, ensuring alignment with bid directives and industrial policies.
- Develop cost bases for bids using Excel, ensuring data is quantifiable and evidence-backed.
- Create competitive and compliant bid proposals using PowerPoint, assessing risks and ensuring financial soundness.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, providing visibility on future bids and market intelligence.
- Support the New Business Team in identifying new business opportunities and developing winning strategies.
- Participate in functional and strategic change activities, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective governance and adherence to policies and procedures throughout the bidding process.
Key Skills:
- Strong manufacturing or production background with bid management experience.
- Proficiency in generating costed proposals and understanding manufacturing processes.
- Commercial acumen in working with cost models and generating accurate costings.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-functional teams.
- Experience with project management tools such as SAP and Primavera P6.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry regulations and standards.
