Summary: The Manufacturing Bid Lead will oversee the bid process for a leading defence organization in Bolton, ensuring that manufacturing proposals align with industrial policy and are competitive. This hybrid role requires the generation of cost bases for bids, collaboration with stakeholders, and the management of bid data throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will also support the New Business Team in identifying opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement in bidding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the manufacturing bid process, ensuring clarity of scope and alignment with industrial policy.
- Generate cost bases for manufacturing bids using Excel and ensure data is quantifiable and evidence-backed.
- Create competitive and compliant manufacturing bids using PowerPoint, assessing risks and ensuring financial soundness.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, providing visibility of future bids and market intelligence.
- Support the New Business Team in identifying new business opportunities and developing winning strategies.
- Participate in functional and strategic change activities, promoting best practices and functional excellence.
- Validate and evolve cost models and bidding methodologies to ensure competitiveness.
- Collect, summarize, and present data for decision-making, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure effective process governance and adherence to policies and procedures in bidding activities.
Key Skills:
- Experience in generating costed proposals and manufacturing bids.
- Understanding of manufacturing production processes from procurement to delivery.
- Commercial acumen in working with cost models for direct and indirect costs.
- Strong presentation skills for creating and presenting bid packs to senior management.
- Excellent communication skills for building relationships across multi-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive approach.
- Experience in data analytics and reporting, with logical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence decisions.
