Summary: The Management Accountant role is a 3-month fixed-term contract based in Barnsley, focusing on supporting the Finance Director in preparing management accounts and providing financial insights within a manufacturing context. The position requires strong analytical skills and experience in management accounting, particularly in a manufacturing environment. The role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance financial reporting and cost control. This hands-on position offers valuable exposure to senior management, ideal for career advancement in management accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Finance Director with the preparation of management accounts, including monthly reporting, variance analysis, and financial commentary.
  • Support the FD with detailed analysis of factory costs and costings, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide insights into financial performance, highlighting areas of concern or opportunity.
  • Work closely with operations to monitor costs and performance, identifying areas for cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Produce financial reports and presentations, using Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for clear, concise reporting to senior management.
  • Help streamline processes and improve reporting methods where possible.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial data, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

Key Skills:

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent by experience.
  • Previous experience in a management accounting role within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create complex reports and analysis.
  • Experience using PowerPoint to create presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and present it in an accessible way.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, comfortable working closely with senior leadership.

Salary (Rate): £50,000
