Summary: The Estates Officer / Maintenance Manager role in Belfast involves supporting the Head of Estates in managing operational maintenance of building services across the estate. The position requires ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facilitating effective estate operations. The role is temporary, expected to last for six months with a potential extension, and involves a 37.5-hour work week. The successful candidate will manage maintenance contracts, assist in project delivery, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor maintenance contracts and contractors to maintain a safe, functional estate.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and procurement regulations.
- Assist in the delivery of minor and major works, planned/reactive maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
- Support the preparation of business cases, tenders, and quotations within regulatory frameworks.
- Undertake condition surveys and manage estates-related databases (e.g. CAFM systems).
- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality estates and facilities services.
- Promote energy efficiency and contribute to sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with strategy planning and performance monitoring against KPIs.
Key Skills:
- Degree or HND in a relevant discipline (e.g., Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management), or minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a facilities/estates role within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable experience in at least two of the following: Building, Surveying and Maintenance; Mechanical Engineering Services; Electrical Engineering Services.
- Contract management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
- NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification (desirable).
- Prior experience in the public sector or healthcare estate management (desirable).
- Proficiency in CAFM systems and CAD architectural drawing software (desirable).
