  • Provide professional advice, guidance, and vocational training to Colas Rail vehicle users.

  • Develop and maintain Colas Rail’s transport policy, ensuring compliance with best practices.
  • Manage the issuance and receipt of new company vehicles, including administrative tasks.
  • Oversee the disposal of company vehicles in accordance with BVLRA guidelines.
  • Administer Dartford Crossing and London Congestion Zone fines, maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain records of authorized drivers and vehicles operated by Colas Rail.
  • Monitor vehicle operating costs and prepare reports for cost control.
  • Administer fuel cards and the company telematics system, including key card management.
  • Handle short-term hire bookings as requested.

Key Skills:

  • Substantial experience in road vehicle management.

Purpose of the Role

Provide a professional transport management service to support the Colas Rail business delivering core business objectives and assist in compliance with safety and statutory requirements relating to the operation of road vehicles.

Person Specification

Substantial experience in road vehicle management, including a through knowledge of road vehicle legislation, preferably a CPC holder. Ability to communicate effectively and influence staff and suppliers at all levels Thorough knowledge of supply style contracts, service level provision and the management Good Level of Microsoft Office, Email, Excel and Word Full Driving Licence

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Colas Rail vehicle users are provided with professional advice, guidance and vocational training commensurate with the road vehicle responsibilities,
  • Keep abreast of changes in road traffic legislation that may affect Colas Rail and issue explanations and instructions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain Colas Rail’s transport policy up dating as necessary to include best practice and statutory/mandatory requirements.
  • Issue and receipt of new of company vehicles, including administrative tasks,
  • Disposal of company vehicles, arranging collection via the Lease supplier under the BVLRA guidelines.
  • Administration of Dartford Crossing, Fines adding and removal, keeping company records accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain records of authorised drivers and details of vehicles being operated by Colas Rail.
  • Collate information on vehicle operating costs, monitor and prepare reports to enable vehicle-operating costs to be monitored and controlled.
  • Administration of London Congestion Zone, Fines, adding and removal, keep company records accurate and up to date
