Summary: The Maintenance and Automation Engineer role at a leading Defence and Aerospace company in Portsmouth involves maintaining and repairing production tooling and jigs, optimizing NC programs for CNC drilling, and implementing preventive maintenance schedules. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair production tooling and jigs.
- Develop and optimise NC programs for CNC drilling (CAWDE).
- Diagnose and resolve industrial equipment faults.
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with external suppliers for tooling repair and upgrades.
Key Skills:
- HNC or 10+ years in Tooling, Jig Design, or Production Maintenance.
- NC programming and Catia V5 experience.
- Knowledge of Fanuc/Siemens NC systems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Experience with CMM, Laser Tracker, Spatial Analyzer (desirable).
- Knowledge of hydraulics, PLCs, robotics, and automation (desirable).
- Familiar with PFMEA, PPS, and software change management (desirable).
- Additive manufacturing and mechanical engineering background (desirable).
