Locum Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist – Community Neuro Rehab

Summary: An opportunity exists for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team on a locum basis in Preston, Lancashire. The role involves assessing and managing adults with complex neurological conditions, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The position requires a commitment to patient-centered care and the development of treatment plans tailored to individual needs. The contract is full-time, with a duration of 3-6 months and potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist assessment and therapy for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
• Develop and implement patient-centred treatment plans
• Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other professionals in the MDT
• Support patients and their families with education and strategies for managing long-term conditions
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HCPC and trust guidelines
• Contribute to service development and clinical audits where appropriate

Key Skills:

• HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
• Minimum 12 months’ experience working with adults in neurorehabilitation
• Competent in managing dysphagia (must have up-to-date dysphagia training and competencies)
• Excellent communication, organisational, and MDT collaboration skills
• UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for community visits)
• Enhanced DBS clearance (required)
