Summary: The role of Locum Band 6 Children's Community Occupational Therapist involves providing child-centred occupational therapy services to children with various developmental, physical, and sensory needs. The therapist will work in diverse settings including homes, schools, and clinics, focusing on improving outcomes for children aged 3 to teenage years. This position requires a skilled professional who can conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams. The contract is locum-based, full-time, and offers the potential for extension beyond the initial duration of 3-6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with developmental delays, physical disabilities, and sensory integration difficulties.
- Develop and deliver individualised treatment plans in collaboration with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide recommendations and training for adaptive equipment, access, and environmental modifications.
- Support children's participation in daily living, play, and school activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with service protocols.
- Participate in service development initiatives and attend regular MDT meetings.
Key Skills:
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of 12 months' paediatric experience in a community, educational, or clinical setting.
- Solid understanding of child development and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong communication and case management skills.
- Car driver with access to a vehicle for community visits.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (mandatory).
