Summary: The role of Linux & DC Systems Admin involves working with a global payments company that has acquired an AI software firm. The position requires the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-grade IT systems, including server, storage, and network management. The role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence from Tuesday to Thursday, and includes on-call responsibilities. This is a 6-month contract with potential for renewal or permanent placement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade IT systems including services, servers, storage, and networks.
  • Manage internal compute clusters supporting Engineering and Data Science functions.
  • Participate in on-call and out-of-hours working as required.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to ensure system reliability and performance.

Key Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu/Redhat/CentOS).
  • Experience in maintaining/running Linux System Administration/Data Centres.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Storage (SAN/ISCSI).
  • Working knowledge of automation tools (Ansible/Terraform/Foreman).
  • Security knowledge (IP Networks/DNS/Firewalls).
  • Familiarity with VMware/Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance.

Detailed Description From Employer:

A global known Payments company have recently acquired a AI software company who are in need of a Linux and Datacentre'systems Administrator. As part of this role you will become a valued member of a dynamic and responsive team, working to design, implement and maintain enterprise grade IT systems (services, server, storage and network) along with our internal compute clusters, all of which underpin the services used by Engineering, Data Scientists and other functions.

This role requires living within commutable distance to our Cambridge office. This is a Full time position with flexible working hours, and requires some on-call and occasional out-of hours working.

This role will be hybrid working with Tuesday - Thursday in office.

This role is currently a 6 month contact with the expectation to be renewed at least 4 times or potentially go permanent.

Required Skills:

  • In depth Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu/Redhat/CentOS)
  • Experience maintaining/Running Linux System Administration/Data Centres
  • Knowledge on Enterprise Storage (SAN/ISCSI)
