Summary: The Lifting & Rigging Expat (SME) role is focused on ensuring safe and efficient lifting operations in high-risk environments, particularly in the oil and gas or construction sectors. The position requires extensive experience in planning, supervising, and executing lifting operations, along with managing teams and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role also involves training personnel, conducting inspections, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain safety and operational integrity. A strong background in lifting operations and relevant certifications is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, plan, supervise, and execute lifting operations on-site
- Advise and support implementation of critical lifting activities
- Support safety initiatives and ensure adherence to relevant safety standards
- Prepare and implement lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements for complex lifts
- Update and review lifting procedures and manuals per international standards
- Maintain lifting equipment registers and ensure maintenance/certification schedules are followed
- Implement corrective actions in cases of non-compliance
- Investigate lifting incidents and recommend improvements
- Report incidents, near-misses, and performance indicators to the safety team
- Establish communication with internal teams, contractors, and third parties to support lifting operations
- Support interface coordination related to lifting activities
- Lead safety training and awareness programs related to lifting operations
- Develop training materials as required
- Deliver competency-based training for safe lifting operations
- Oversee, coach, and coordinate lifting teams, providing clear instructions
- Ensure adherence to safe practices and efficient resource use during lifting operations
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure equipment is compliant and in good working condition
- Identify areas for improvement based on inspection results
- Supervise and support contractors engaged in lifting operations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and performance expectations
- Collaborate with safety teams to assess and mitigate risks
- Support on-site safety culture through initiatives and campaigns
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
