Position Brunel Pension Partnership Limited ( Brunel ) requires a Legal Counsel ( LC ) to support the Director of Risk & General Counsel ( DRGC ) in managing Brunel’s legal affairs and risks. The LC will work with the DRGC and the other legal counsel in the Legal Team to support the Board and wider firm with legal advice and support across a wide range of areas, including liaising with external counsel where needed. The Legal Team currently undertakes a broad range of work, covering advice on regulated procurements, commercial and IT contracts, data privacy, FOIA, corporate governance, support to the Compliance and HR teams, as well as a wide variety of matters relating to Brunel’s investment management activities. This opportunity is for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

What you'll be doing: The LC will work closely with the DRGC to provide the legal support required by Brunel, managing legal risk within agreed tolerance, and ensuring that the business complies with its legal obligations. Maintain working knowledge of relevant legal obligations that impact Brunel and which Brunel must meet. Provide advice on all contracts and arrangements to which Brunel is party, including: Employment contracts and all other documentation relating to the employment or engagement by Brunel of its employees, consultants, and workers from time to time General procurement, including regulated procurements under the Public Contract Regulations 2015 Supply of goods and services contracts, including in relation to IT (Subject to experience), contracts and other documents relating to investments by, or on behalf of clients, including through the TM Brunel Pension Partnership ACS and private markets investments Assist with Freedom of Information Act requests Advise on the implications of the Data Protection Act 2018 Provide support for identification, reporting and prioritisation of changing legal obligations through active “horizon-scanning”, internal assessments and oversight Facilitate of legal advice and guidance from the DRGC to colleagues Research and understand current applicable laws, regulation, and requirements of the FCA and disseminate information throughout Brunel as appropriate Take responsibility for supporting legal and regulatory changes and supporting the relevant implementation activities to ensure Brunel’s ongoing compliance Bespoke Requirements for this role: Can, and will, embrace and protect Brunel’s values and culture Has experience of working with legal matters or a relevant degree Has experience of utilising and maximising the use of business applications Is detail-oriented and considered a “completer-finisher”, is pragmatic and works with a high degree of common sense Embracer of diversity The ability to challenge effectively across all levels of the firm
