Summary: The Lead Electrical Design Engineer - Control Panels role is focused on designing and developing electrical systems for industrial automation, particularly in the water/wastewater industry. The position requires a local candidate or someone within a two-hour drive of Sacramento, California, who can work onsite for the first two weeks before transitioning to remote work. The role emphasizes collaboration with various teams and adherence to industry standards while ensuring quality and efficiency in project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new or update loop diagrams and interconnect diagrams for electrical, power, and process control systems.
- Design complex electrical, controls, and communication equipment and systems for automation projects.
- Develop detailed engineering documentation including single-line and three-line diagrams, panel elevations, and wiring schematics.
- Ensure accurate representation of control loops and define cable routing, wire numbering, and terminal assignments.
- Prepare and maintain bill of materials (BOM), cable schedules, and wiring lists.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders into manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Perform quality checks on electrical drawings before submission.
- Provide technical leadership to offshore teams and act as a liaison between customers and offshore teams.
- Coordinate with onsite engineers and project managers to ensure designs match field conditions.
- Participate in onsite inspections and meetings to discuss modifications and updates.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand system requirements and implement changes.
- Establish templates and part libraries for the team.
- Coordinate with process and instrumentation engineers to verify loop configurations.
- Participate in peer reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description-:
We need your help to find a consultant in Sacramento area (California).
NOTE; Ideally they want someone in Sacramento who can be onsite 5 days a week.
The second option would be someone who is within one to two hours of the client location and for the first two weeks they would be onsite full time and then after that it would be remote.
Position: Lead Electrical Design Engineer - Control Panels
- Location: Sacramento, California Onsite required all weekdays as per client requirement.
- If a local candidate is not available, Client is open to a remote arrangement only if the selected individual can be onsite in the Sacramento office for the first two weeks of onboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Develop new or update loop diagrams and interconnect diagrams for electrical, power, and process
control systems for industrial automation and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry
standards and client specifications.
Design complex electrical, controls, and communication equipment and systems to provide
automation for water/wastewater industry projects.
Develop detailed engineering documentation including single-line and three-line diagrams,
panel elevations, general arrangements, and wiring schematics.
Ensure accurate representation of control loops, including signal types
Define cable routing, wire numbering, terminal assignments, and connection details
Prepare and maintain bill of materials (BOM), cable schedules, and wiring lists.
Ensure feedback from identified stakeholders are incorporated accurately into artifacts such as
manufacturing drawings, bill of material and submittal documentation. Adhere to stringent timelines.
Perform quality checks on electrical drawings before submission
Project Collaboration:
Provide technical leadership to offshore leadership
Be the voice of customer to the offshore team and vice versa
Work closely with onsite engineers, electricians, and project managers to ensure wiring designs match
field conditions
Participate in onsite inspections and meetings to discuss wiring modifications and documentation
updates
Coordinate with the customer's engineering team to understand system requirements and implement
changes as needed.
Help in working with customer IT teams to establish access to engineering artifacts and resolve any
other issues in the course of the project for offshore team
Help in establishing templates and part libraries for self and offshore team
Coordinate with process and instrumentation engineers to verify loop configurations.
Collaborate with panel designers to ensure proper terminations
Participate in peer reviews for drawings prepared by cohorts
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
Job Description
