Java Developer

Summary: The role of Java Developer involves hands-on development within a leading global consultancy in the financial services sector. The position focuses on modernizing a real-time event-driven system to accommodate significant growth in business event processing and data volumes. Candidates are expected to work in a hybrid model, with three days on-site in Glasgow, and possess strong analytical and software engineering skills. The contract is initially for six months with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and modernize a real-time event-driven system.
• Enhance the system to support exponential growth in business event processing and data volumes.
• Work in a complex real-time Linux-based environment with multi-threaded Java.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand complex requirements.
• Participate in an agile development lifecycle and target a fully automated release cycle.
• Encourage good DevOps practices and enhance automated processes.
• Provide documentation for features developed.

Key Skills:

• Java Server Side Concurrent Programming with Spring Boot (Core Spring).
• Junit.
• Understanding of message-based architectures (MQ/Kafka).
• RDBMS Sybase and/or DB2 with proficiency in writing complex SQL queries.
• Unix/Linux scripting (Shell/Python).
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
