Summary: The Investigator role involves working full-time on a six-month contract with Cumbria Constabulary's FMIT, focusing on major and complex crime investigations. The position requires conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and preparing casework reports under the direction of senior officers. The investigator will also ensure the welfare of victims and witnesses while maintaining ethical standards throughout the investigative process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct investigations under the direction of the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) or deputy SIO.
• Complete Major Incident Room (MIR) actions to identify, gather, secure, and preserve evidence.
• Record evidential accounts from victims and witnesses, conducting interviews following ABE guidelines.
• Conduct suspect interviews under caution, applying current law and procedures.
• Perform house to house enquiries and search team duties.
• Maintain evidential continuity of exhibits and perform the role of exhibits officer.
• Review third party material in line with CPIA and Attorney General's guidelines.
• Prepare casework reports for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service.
• Ensure the welfare needs of victims, witnesses, and suspects are considered.
• Attend court or hearings as a witness if necessary.
• Conduct investigations in support of the HOLMES system and other force policies.
• Liaise with victims, witnesses, and agencies regarding investigations.
• Provide expertise and act as a reference point for major investigations.
• Work extended and unsociable hours as required.
• Deal with vulnerable witnesses and provide support when necessary.

Key Skills:

• Experience as an accredited investigator on live investigations.
• Accredited Investigator under the ICIDP programme or previous CID Foundation process.
• Full driving licence holder.
