Summary: The Data Engineer role involves hands-on development of data solutions for a multi-billion-pound company, focusing on engineering, transformation, and analytical data models. The position requires collaboration with regional and global teams to support data solutions and engage with stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure meets business needs. The contract is for 6 months and is primarily remote with occasional site visits to Manchester. The role is classified as inside IR35, with a pay rate of up to £500 per day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on development of regional and global data solutions, including engineering & transformation, analytical data models, and data presentation layer.
  • Provide third-line support of data solutions for UK&I, collaborating with regional and global teams.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and development aspects of product & project lifecycle ensuring compliance with agreed frameworks, design patterns, and standards.
  • Act as a consultant on agreed data technologies, advising on performance, robustness, and maintainability.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather data requirements, provide insights, and ensure data infrastructure supports business needs.
  • Ensure technical skills and specializations are kept up to date with industry developments.
  • Act as a test resource to ensure high-quality standards of products.
  • Create and maintain specifications, operational procedures, frameworks, and development standards/methodology.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in data engineering & BI.
  • Advanced proficiency in data tools such as SSMS, SSIS, Visual Studio, TSQL, Fabric/PowerBI, and ideally Azure Data Factory, Databricks & Dremio.
  • Experience and excellent understanding of data modeling (Facts/Dimensions) and their application.
  • Experience and excellent understanding of medallion architecture and its application in data processing.
  • Experience in data engineering and data transformation.
  • Desirable: Understanding of data residency requirements and regulations, with the ability to implement compliant data solutions.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps and associated integrations.
