Summary: The Interim Financial Controller role is a key position within a sub £50 million manufacturing business in Cannock, responsible for supervising a finance team and acting as a commercial finance partner to senior operational staff. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, and collaborating with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making. The position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of remote and on-site work, and requires a candidate with relevant experience in finance and team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising a team of three and providing mentorship to junior staff.
- Acting as the primary commercial finance partner to senior operational staff.
- Collaborating with senior leadership to deliver financial reports and support strategic decision-making.
- Overseeing banking relationships and preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Leading the processes of forecasting and budgeting.
- Handling daily operations of the finance department.
- Managing daily cash flow, including credit control and supplier payments.
- Reviewing and assisting in monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparing monthly financial results with commentary and ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Completing quarterly VAT returns.
- Coordinating annual audit processes and supporting tax return preparations.
- Analysing and enhancing systems, processes, and controls for efficiency and accuracy.
- Providing assistance to the CFO as needed.
- Performing any other ad-hoc duties related to the finance department.
Key Skills:
- Experience in managing/supervising finance teams.
- IT literate with good systems knowledge.
- Experience in small to medium-sized businesses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of finance from transactional to complete sets of accounts.
- Experience within the manufacturing sector is an advantage.
