Summary: The Interim Finance Director role is a critical position within a private equity-backed eCommerce business in Surrey, focusing on steering the finance function through a high-stakes growth phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing a 100-day value creation plan and preparing the business for a potential sale. This role requires a hands-on, data-driven leader with experience in managing exits and aligning finance operations with strategic goals. The position is expected to last for 6 months with a likelihood of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the finance elements of the 100-day value creation plan, aligned to exit readiness
- Drive exit preparation, including data room management, financial modelling, and investor presentations
- Collaborate with commercial, operations, and digital teams to enhance margin and profitability analysis
- Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and the private equity sponsor on deal and reporting matters
- Identify and address risks, gaps, and value leakage across finance operations
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with extensive post-qualified experience
- Demonstrated success as a Finance Director or Interim FD in PE-backed businesses
- Direct experience of leading a business through an exit (trade sale, secondary buyout, IPO)
- Comfortable executing 100-day plans and working with investors at pace
- Strong technical and commercial finance skills, with a sharp focus on value creation
- Experience in eCommerce, digital retail, or fast-moving B2C environments preferred

The business is seeking a seasoned Interim Finance Director with a proven track record of supporting exits and delivering against aggressive 100-day plans. You’ll play a central role in preparing the business for a potential sale, ensuring the finance function is tightly aligned to strategic goals, and that all commercial, operational and financial levers are being optimised. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the PE sponsor, you’ll be hands-on, data-driven, and influential across the senior leadership team.
