Document Controller contractors are engaged to manage the creation, distribution, filing, and retrieval of project documentation across construction, engineering, oil and gas, and infrastructure programmes. The work involves maintaining document registers, ensuring version control, managing transmittals between project stakeholders, and enforcing compliance with project-specific documentation standards and procedures. Document Controller contractors are essential on large capital projects where the volume and criticality of documentation, including drawings, specifications, method statements, and contractual correspondence, requires dedicated professional management.
Document Controller contractors need proficiency with electronic document management systems such as Aconex, Asite, ProjectWise, SharePoint, or 4Projects. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to enforce documentation procedures consistently across multiple project stakeholders are essential.
