Summary: The In-House Data Privacy Lawyer will join Squire Patton Boggs' data protection compliance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, providing legal advice on data protection, cybersecurity, and e-privacy compliance. The role involves supporting the Data Protection Officer and the Office of General Counsel, with a focus on UK and EU GDPR regulations and global compliance. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across various business functions to enhance the firm's data governance and compliance initiatives. This position offers flexible working options across the firm's UK locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on UK and EU GDPR compliance, including international data transfers.
- Support due diligence assessments on third-party vendors and contribute to data protection impact assessments.
- Provide legal guidance on HR-related data protection issues and workplace culture programs.
- Develop training and resources for data governance and compliance obligations.
- Identify and address privacy compliance gaps during annual policy reviews.
- Collaborate with the global privacy legal team to incorporate compliance requirements from other jurisdictions.
- Participate in discussions with the global privacy steering committee.
- Advise on e-privacy compliance in marketing.
- Support responses to data subject requests and other compliance initiatives.
Key Skills:
- Qualified solicitor (1-5 PQE) with experience in data protection and privacy matters.
- Strong commitment to data privacy specialization.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work and support a privacy-oriented culture.
- Good people skills and solid commercial awareness.
