Summary: The Fluid Lines Designer role at Desford involves the design and development of fluid line installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant, and air conditioning refrigerant. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop fluid lines installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant, and air conditioning refrigerant.
- Route hose and tube assemblies, select adapters, and define mounting arrangements.
- Collaborate with global teams and suppliers to deliver new designs into series production.
- Coordinate with sales, marketing, product development, supply chain, and manufacturing to manage design changes.
- Communicate design status to stakeholders through presentations and detailed reports.
Key Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of 3D CAD geometry creation, ideally using Creo.
- Experience with engineering data management systems, preferably Teamcenter.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to convert customer needs into requirements and specifications.

Fluid Lines Designer Desford onsite full time 12 – months £33.44 / hr umbrella Inside IR35 Designing and development of fluid lines installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant and air conditioning refrigerant which are validated to meet functional and technical requirements. This will include the routing of hose and tube assemblies, selection of adapters and definition of mounting arrangements. Experience working in either heavy equipment, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries. 3D CAD (Creo preferred) but others considered. Teamcenter knowledge. Proficient in Microsoft office packages.
The opportunity: As a Fluid Lines Designer you will design and develop new and innovative solutions for our market leading, world class mobile construction products. You will join the technical team responsible for the next generation of Compact Wheel Loaders, located within the Building Construction Products Division in Desford, UK.
In this role you will be responsible for, but not limited to :
- The design and development of fluid lines installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant and air conditioning refrigerant which are validated to meet functional and technical requirements.
- This will include the routing of hose and tube assemblies, selection of adapters and definition of mounting arrangements.
- Working across multiple projects and collaborating with global teams and suppliers to deliver new designs into series production which meet quality, velocity and cost targets.
- Coordinating with sales and marketing, product development groups, supply chain and manufacturing to manage design changes through the engineering life cycle.
- Communicating design status to stakeholders and participating functional areas through presentations and detailed reports.
What you can demonstrate:
- Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive knowledge and ability to create 3D CAD geometry using fluid lines modelling techniques (ideally CREO), apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to recognised standards, and complete changes using engineering data management systems (ideally Teamcenter).
- Analytical Thinking: Effective utilisation of techniques and tools to analyse problems, determine root cause and develop creative solutions.
- Product Design and Manufacture: An ability to convert customer needs into requirements and specifications which drive development of concepts through to production designs.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: An ability to make effective judgements to prioritise time and progress multiple concurrent activities.
