Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business leaders to provide high-quality HR advice and support.
- Maintain and provide timely people-related information for data-led decisions.
- Act as the first point of contact for HR queries within the business area.
- Coach and influence people managers to ensure strong performance.
- Identify talent and capability requirements aligned with organizational needs.
- Act as a subject matter expert in employee relations and ensure compliance with policies.
- Support end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and probation processes.
- Develop talent sourcing strategies for strategic initiatives.
- Champion Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives.
- Produce monthly payroll files and administer benefit schemes.
- Support change management initiatives and People Projects.

People Business Partner 12 month fixed term contract, hybrid working, London, £54,000 Leading London Art Gallery needs People Business Partner to cover Maternity Leave. This is a 12 month fixed term contract role, full time hours and hybrid working. This role is to Partner the business to provide high quality and proactive advice, support and coaching on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including resourcing and attracting talent, onboarding, L&D, wellbeing, employee relations, pay and benefits, payroll and projects. You will also collaborate with the team on projects such as regular payroll updates. Reporting to the Head of People, responsibilities will include:
- Gaining a full understanding of the needs of teams within your business areas and partner with managers /heads
- Maintaining and providing timely and accurate people-related information to support data-led decisions
- Acting as the first point of contact for your business area, effectively communicating and dealing with queries in a proactive, professional and positive way
- Coaching, influencing and constructively challenging people managers and leaders to ensure strong people performance
- Partnering with leaders to identify talent, strategic resourcing, and capability requirements in line with the longer-term people needs of the organisation
- Acting as subject matter expert in employee relations matters, keeping up to date with legal changes and ensuring appropriate application of people policies and procedures
- Generating insight from data and evidence
- Coaching and supporting managers on employee relations matters.
- Providing guidance and practical expertise to managers, highlighting risks and issues with a strategic, legal or employee relations impact to the Head of People
- Supporting end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and probation processes for your business areas
- Thinking creatively to develop talent sourcing strategies to aid specific business strategic initiatives
- Attending recruitment interviews as a panel member as and when required and work with hiring managers to ensure a professional and positive candidate /new employee experience
- Supporting managers to identify and meet development needs within their teams, ensuring clear development pathways
- Supporting managers in their management of underperformance
- Researching and updating draft employment policies and procedures
- Championing Values & Behaviours by role modelling them
- Championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) to embed effective action plans
- Maintaining accurate People records
- Producing monthly payroll file processing employee adjustments including joiners, leavers and submit the relevant information to the payroll bureau
- Administering pension scheme and other benefit schemes
- Providing assistance and support to the Head of People
- Providing support for (and lead on some) change management initiatives and People Projects
- Keeping up to date with employment law and best practice
You will need:
- Experience of in-house end to end recruitment and selection processes and a strong knowledge of recruitment legislation and good practice
- Knowledge of employment legislation and good practice and ability to deliver expert advice on a wide range of people issues
- Excellent communication skills; effective questioning and active listening and the ability to write in an engaging manner
- Ability to use data, knowledge, communication and relationship skills to positively influence key decisions
- Ability to form effective relationships with key stakeholders across the Gallery
- Pro-active problem solving and ability to work on your own initiative
- Ability to make informed decisions
- Team playing skills with a flexible approach
- Experience processing monthly payroll would be a plus, as would a CIPD qualification
