Summary: The HR Business Partner role is a fixed-term position for 3–4 months within a leading arts institution, focusing on providing strategic HR support across various departments. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior leaders to manage a diverse HR portfolio, addressing employee relations, workforce planning, and organizational change. This role requires a proactive approach to coaching and advising on HR matters while fostering inclusion and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partnering with senior leadership teams to align people initiatives with business objectives.
- Leading organisational development, change and restructure projects.
- Supporting and guiding complex and high-volume ER cases, including dismissal and appeal.
- Coaching leaders on effective people management, team development and performance.
- Acting as escalation point for a People Advisor, reviewing casework and identifying risks.
- Collaborating with Learning & Development, Resourcing, and EDI teams to support workforce planning, talent pipelines and inclusion goals.
- Representing the People team in union-related matters and fostering constructive working relationships.
- Analysing HR data and trends to inform strategy and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Leading on specific HR projects and contributing to policy development.
Key Skills:
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner in a complex, multi-site or unionised environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
- Significant experience managing ER casework end-to-end, including dismissal and appeal.
- Comfortable influencing and building relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading change and organisational development initiatives.
- Excellent coaching, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Confident working with HRIS systems and producing management reports.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain calm under pressure.

A leading arts institution is looking for a HR Business Partner to join their team and provide strategic HR support across multiple departments. As an HR Business Partner, you will work directly with senior leaders and manage a wide-ranging HR portfolio across several business units (circa 250 employees). You’ll act as a trusted advisor on everything from employee relations and workforce planning to organisational change, inclusion, and leadership development.
