Summary: The Royal College of Art is seeking an HR Advisor for maternity cover, offering a unique opportunity to support the People & Culture Team in a prestigious institution. The role involves providing expert HR advice, coaching managers, and contributing to various HR projects within a unionised environment. Emphasis is placed on casework related to employee relations, absence management, and organisational change. The position is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week on campus, and is set to commence in May 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on people-related matters, including health, conduct, capability, grievance, and dignity at work.
- Support and coach managers to develop their people management skills while ensuring compliance with employment law and College policies.
- Contribute to cultural assessments by meeting with staff, analysing feedback, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Advise on occupational health referrals and help managers implement recommendations to support employees effectively.
- Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures, redeployment, and contractual changes.
- Provide guidance on family-friendly leave, flexible working, and hybrid working arrangements.
- Conduct job evaluations to support recruitment, regrading, and organisational design.
- Deliver bite-sized HR training sessions and workshops for managers.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in HR advisory roles, particularly in employee relations and casework.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach and support managers in people management.
- Experience in conducting cultural assessments and implementing HR projects.
