Summary: The Head of Sustainability will lead sustainability initiatives within a design-led consulting group on a 6-month fixed-term contract in London. This role involves integrating sustainable practices into projects, managing the UK team, and driving business development for the Sustainability function. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance sustainability performance in the built environment. The position requires a strong background in sustainability assessment and consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Sustainability Team to deliver sustainability assessment and design consultancy services within the built environment industry.
  • Conduct calculations, computer modelling, and prepare professional consultancy reports, proposals or presentations.
  • Project management, delivery and senior stakeholder management.
  • Business development for the Sustainability Team through new and existing client base.
  • Support work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and external profile-raising of services.
  • Develop ongoing strategy to grow and develop the businesses Sustainability offering.
  • Mentor and develop more junior members of staff and support growth in their careers.

Key Skills:

  • Degree holder in engineering/science related to green building, civil & environmental, sustainability, building services, mechanical & electrical or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in green building assessment, sustainability assessment consultancy services.
  • Experience of working on projects in the Middle East would be advantageous.
  • Experience of ASHRAE 90.1 OR 90.2.
  • Ability to develop Carbon Reduction strategies.
  • Ability to estimate costs for Part O, Part L and embodied carbon assessments.
  • Understanding of NABERS, BREEAM, LEED, TM65, etc.
  • Maintain an established understanding of building physics such as thermal bridging, air movement, wind, solar, etc.
