Summary: The Head of Marketing (Maternity Cover) at Gympanzees is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all marketing and communications activities for the charity. This position involves leading campaigns for the launch of the UK's first fully inclusive leisure facility for disabled children and young people, while managing a small marketing team and collaborating with senior leadership. The role requires a hands-on approach to ensure the organization's growth and engagement with its audience. The contract is fixed-term for 9 months, starting in October 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and evolve a clear, insight-led marketing strategy in line with organisational objectives.
  • Shape brand voice and ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Plan and deliver engaging campaigns across digital, print, PR, and events.
  • Oversee content creation including newsletters, social media, and press releases.
  • Identify opportunities for media coverage and brand partnerships.
  • Oversee website updates and lead on analytics and reporting.
  • Line manage and mentor the internal marketing team.
  • Coordinate external freelancers and agency partners.
  • Work closely with fundraising and operations teams to support campaign delivery.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, strategic marketing leadership role that oversees the planning and delivery of all marketing and communications activity across the charity. Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and fundraising colleagues, you’ll ensure that Gympanzees continues to grow its profile, engage our audiences, and support fundraising efforts. You'll also lead a small but passionate marketing function, including managing freelancers and agency partners, while mentoring and supporting internal team members. You’ll also have the rare opportunity to spearhead the marketing for the launch of the UK’s first fully inclusive leisure centre, leading campaigns for ticket sales, memberships, and PR to maximise the impact of this historic opening. The successful candidate will be confident stepping into a well-established, high-performing role, bringing fresh ideas and energy while ensuring continuity and alignment with our organisational goals.

  • Oversee website updates, performance, and optimisation (incl. SEO and UX).
  • Lead on analytics and reporting, using data to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong audience insight underpins all marketing activity.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Line manage and mentor the internal marketing team.
  • Coordinate external freelancers and agency partners to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Work closely with the fundraising and operations team to support campaign delivery and internal communications.
  • Maintain clear workflows, priorities, and expectations across the marketing function.
