Summary: The Group Returnable Packaging & Apple Senior Specialist at C&C Group plc is responsible for managing all returnable packaging types and ensuring optimal efficiency and budget management. This role also involves liaising with apple growers during the apple season and overseeing inventory management and operational planning. The position is a 2-year fixed-term contract based in Glasgow or Clonmel. The specialist will lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide training to stakeholders to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead baseline assessment of current RET packaging volumes and usage.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather accurate data on packaging across business units.
- Identify process improvements and infrastructure investments for packaging management.
- Manage keg and pallet pools for optimization and cost reduction.
- Evaluate material shortages and escalate production impacts.
- Implement continuous improvement methods and best practices.
- Develop and implement a companywide Management System and supporting SOPs.
- Provide leadership and training for stakeholders to meet business goals.
- Prepare insights for Planning and Procurement teams for effective purchasing.
- Ensure accurate inventory management through audits and reconciliation.
- Contribute to production scheduling by monitoring material inventories.
- Accountable for reporting on management and KPIs alongside budget setting.
- Implement Service Level Agreements with apple suppliers during the apple season.
- Manage apple grower correspondence and tonnage allocations.
- Collate and record annual spray records for compliance audits.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries with growers.
Key Skills:
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a dynamic FMCG business, preferably in the drinks sector.
- Wider supply chain operational experience is desirable.
- Proven ability to deliver results against targets.
- Demonstrable Project Management experience is desirable.
- Focus on improving operational efficiency and reducing waste.
- Strong knowledge of operational planning and inventory management.
- Understanding of Returnable Packaging and industry regulations.
- Ability to lead and make decisions to prevent issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant tools.
