Summary: The GCP DevOps Engineer role involves working with a leading digital consultancy to support an end client in the banking sector. The position requires extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform and Istio, focusing on infrastructure automation and cluster management. This is a hybrid role, requiring in-office presence in London 2 to 3 days a week. The contract is initially for 6 months at a rate of £700 per day, classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize Google Cloud Platform services including VPCSC, IAM, and Project management.
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform.
- Manage GKE clusters and deploy workloads effectively.
- Implement Kubernetes network policies, RBAC Policies, Role Bindings, and manage Kubernetes Jobs, Logging & Monitoring.
- Configure and manage Istio service mesh features such as authentication, authorization, load balancing, and routing.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
- Write scripts in Bash, Python, or Groovy.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Experience in managing GKE clusters.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes network policies and RBAC.
- Hands-on experience with Istio service mesh.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Groovy.
