Summary: We are looking for a highly experienced Full Stack Developer with a strong Linux/Unix background to support and evolve our client's production systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise across multiple programming languages and environments, collaborating directly with editorial stakeholders to ensure systems meet business needs. This role involves implementing new features, improving existing code, and architecting new software solutions. The position is based in London and is for a duration of 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Part of a team who is ultimately responsible for the newspaper editorial and production systems
  • Part of a team to implement new features, as well as make improvements and fix bugs in existing code in the newspaper editorial and production systems.
  • Work with editorial stakeholders to ensure that the systems continue meeting their needs and evolve the roadmap as required
  • Identify new technologies, industry trends, and best practices which should be incorporated into the roadmap
  • To be part of a team who is ultimately responsible for the newspaper editorial and production systems. Architect brand-new software solutions to fulfil project requirements

Key Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
  • Knowledge of multiple Front End languages and frameworks (Javascript, AngularJS, Electron, React, HTML, CSS, Java, Perl)
  • Experience with common development tools and services, such as version control software, package managers, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of multiple Back End languages (NodeJS/Javascript, C, Java/JNI, Python, Perl)
  • Familiarity with databases (eg Oracle, Elasticsearch)
  • Extensive experience working in Linux (eg RedHat/CentOS) and Unix-like (eg MacOS) environments
  • Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS, GCP and Azure
