Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Project and Bid Managers to manage project finances, including forecasting, KPI monitoring, invoicing, financial setup, and resolving variances.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner with financial planning, month-end processes, reporting, audits, and insight through trend and performance analysis.
  • Monitor and control project and overhead expenditure, ensuring budgets are adhered to and issues are identified, escalated, and resolved.
  • Deliver accurate and timely transactional finance activities, including job setup, data maintenance, transfers, and compliance with financial policies and systems.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on financial processes, systems, and best practices, including timesheets and mailbox queries.
  • Collaborate with wider finance teams to drive continuous improvement, support change initiatives, and deliver a high-quality finance service to stakeholders.

Key Skills:

  • Finance or business-related qualification (Degree, A levels/equivalent, or relevant apprenticeship), with a willingness to work towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA).
  • Experience in a similar finance or business role, with a sound understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide clear, constructive insight.
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to collaborate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proactive, logical, and adaptable, with good digital awareness and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Organised and self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team while meeting deadlines and targets.

Purpose of the role: The Financial Analyst - Project Accounting role will work as part of a Finance Operations team reporting into the Finance Business Partner.
