Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of annual accounts (including charitable and patient funds)
  • Ensuring timely submission of Whole of Government Accounts and other statutory returns
  • Managing capital accounting and maintaining the asset register
  • Reconciling control accounts and payroll interfaces
  • Supporting internal and external audit processes
  • Liaising with shared services and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Contributing to financial governance, policy compliance, and continuous improvement

Key Skills:

  • Full membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CCAB or CIMA)
  • Minimum 1 year's post-qualification finance experience
  • At least 2 years' experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership, governance, and people management skills (min. 2 years)
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills (advanced level)
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate complex financial data
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Your new role
As a Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of statutory accounts, financial governance, and capital accounting.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the preparation of annual accounts (including charitable and patient funds)
  • Ensuring timely submission of Whole of Government Accounts and other statutory returns
  • Managing capital accounting and maintaining the asset register
  • Reconciling control accounts and payroll interfaces
  • Supporting internal and external audit processes
  • Liaising with shared services and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Contributing to financial governance, policy compliance, and continuous improvement

What you'll need to succeed
