Summary: This role involves supporting a growing Creative SME by enhancing their finance department, systems, and processes on a project basis. The Finance Director will integrate financial controls and oversee financial operations while collaborating with non-finance departments to ensure alignment. The position requires hands-on involvement in transactional finance and strategic support for growth plans. The contract is expected to last around six months, with a hybrid working arrangement in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and improve current finance systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee end-to-end financial operations, management accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Support accurate month-end accounts preparation.
- Provide commercial and strategic insights to the senior leadership team.
- Partner with client leads to ensure project profitability.
- Review and negotiate client contracts, implementing new processes as needed.
- Support and mentor the finance department, nurturing talent.
- Manage forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow.
Key Skills:
- Experience with global accounting is helpful.
- Fully qualified accountant.
- Experience in a creatively focused agency.
- People management experience.
- Contracting experience, with a track record of improving businesses.

Fab opportunity to support this growing Creative SME on a project basis to get their finance department, systems & process and commercials ship shape! You will integrate the financial controls into the agency, with the view to pass this on for a financial controller to run longer term. You will be an all-rounder. Happy to be hands on with some of the transactional elements of finance as well as supporting the MD with growth plans, commercials and overseeing all new business contracts. Interpersonal skills will be key to partner with all the non finance departments and get them all onboard with the partnership with finance! They will be guided by you in terms of contract length. But likely to be circa 6 months of so Circa £100k, some flex Early 2026 start date Hybrid working- 3 days a week in the London office
The role:
- Assess current finance systems and process and tweak/ over hall the whole department to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Over see the end-to-end financial operations, management accounting, financial reporting & compliance
- Support in the accurate month end accounts
- Provide commercial and strategic insights to the senior leadership team
- Partner with client leads to ensure project profitability
- Review client contracts and negotiate where needed and put new process in place for this
- Support and upskill the finance department, really nurturing and mentoring talent
- Forecasting, budgeting and managing cashflow
The person:
- Experience with global accounting helpful
- Must be fully qualified
- Must have worked in a creatively focused agency
- People management experience
- Ideally you are an experienced contractor, used to jumping in to new businesses and leaving them in a better position than when you joined!
