Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide business partnering support to managers to help them understand and manage their budgets.
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts; identify risks and opportunities to help the business stay on track.
  • Provide well-founded financial forecasts, identify unexpected budget variances, and ensure satisfactory explanations for significant items.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to support strategic and operational decision making.
  • Prepare year-end management accounts in August (to 31 July year end).
  • Prepare annual budgets building up expenditure from contractual and anticipated activities.
  • Work closely with finance colleagues to ensure accurate recording and processing of financial information.
  • Monitor and improve financial processes and reporting to enable insightful information to be provided to managers and directors.
  • Use knowledge and expertise to help business colleagues address and resolve problems as they arise, for example with invoices or payments to suppliers.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller with the year-end audit process.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA) with relevant post qualification experience.
  • Interest in providing business support rather than just reporting final numbers.
  • Strong numeracy skills and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in stakeholder management and business partnering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex financial information.

Job Description We are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join the team on a fixed term basis to cover a maternity leave. You will be acting as a trusted advisor to budget owners providing proactive financial insight and high-quality reporting and analysis to contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in exposure to the internal workings of delivering a world-leading sports event.

What you will be doing In this role, you will be responsible for a range of Championships budgets including Estate Management, Courts and Landscaping, Energy and Environment along with the Community Sports Centres based at Raynes Park and Roehampton. You will:

  • Provide business partnering support to managers to help them understand and manage their budgets;
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts; identify risks and opportunities to help the business stay on track;
  • Provide well-founded financial forecasts, be able to identify unexpected budget variances and ensure that all significant items are explained satisfactorily;
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to support strategic and operational decision making;
  • Prepare year end management accounts in August (to 31 July year end);

What part your role will play in The Championships You will spend time with business managers to understand the detailed operations involved in running The Championships to aid the delivery of your work. You will work closely with business managers and the Group Finance Manager to provide financial forecasts to track the financial performance of The Championships.

What teams in the business does your role support Your role will play an important part in providing support to a wide range of teams across the business including: The Energy and Environment team as they lead the drive towards net zero carbon emissions and nature positive outcomes across the organisation; The Estate Management team, encompassing specialists in fabric, mechanical, electrical and life safety systems as they maintain and refurbish the 42-acre site; The Courts and Landscaping team as they maintain grass, clay, hard and covered courts and the croquet lawns for year-round use and to fully prepare the courts for The Championships; The Court Services team (as part of the wider Courts and Landscaping team) which includes approximately 420 seasonal employees who are responsible for ensuring courts are in the optimum conditions for play, from court covering to delivering towels; The Horticultural team (as part of the wider Courts and Landscaping team) as they design and deliver the landscaping across all venues adding up to 19,000 additional plants each year to enhance the experience for spectators, members and visitors; The Community Tennis Centre (Raynes Park) team that manage a 22-acre site that hosts professional players practising for The Championships and national level tennis tournaments as well as providing a vibrant community programme year-round with over 1,500 players, including Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative participants and training for The Championships Ball Boys and Girls; The Operations and Community Sports Centre (Roehampton) teams that host the Wimbledon Qualifying Competition each year to determine the final Main Draw places for The Championships. In addition, between August and April, the team at the Sports Centre welcome over 50,000 visitors to use the array of sporting facilities across the 28-acre site.

About You Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA) with relevant post qualification experience; Interest in the business and providing business support rather than just reporting the final numbers; Strong numeracy skills and analytical thinking; Excellent interpersonal skills with confidence in engaging with others and experience in stakeholder management and business partnering; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues across the business; Confident and highly proficient in applying Microsoft Excel for financial analysis; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, and Word; Dedicated and consistent attention to detail; be highly detail orientated; Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and multi-task; Proactive with a flexible approach to manage responsibilities whilst also contributing to the ongoing development of the business; Demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, commitment and professionalism; The role will use Unit4 accounting software, including purchase orders.
