Detailed Description From Employer:

Job title : EUC Data Center Analyst

Location : Barnsley / Sheffield,UK (Hybrid)

Contract Duration : 5-6 months

Hybrid /Onsite : 3 days/week

Deliverables: A comprehensive map detailing the specifications and historical energy usage of the demised devices will be created. This will form the basis for a baseline energy usage forecast for these devices throughout the year. A real-time tracking system for the energy consumption of the remaining devices within the data centre will need to be proposed and requirements documented, enabling the accurate apportionment of energy reduction attributable to the demised hardware. This will allow future resources to track the benefits monthly. This will lead to the calculation of the total energy saved during the current year and a projection of annualized energy savings in subsequent years as a direct result of the demises. Detailed documentation of the processes and procedures employed in this methodology will be developed to serve as a guide for similar projects in the future. Define the specific requirements and identify key Client's data sources and systems of record for automated reporting solutions that will streamline this process for future use

This role will be responsible for creating automated reports that track the project's progress against the established energy reduction forecast. Additionally, reports summarizing the total energy savings achieved in the current year and the anticipated annualized savings for future years will be developed. This specialist will also develop a standardized process to ensure the consistent capture of any future orphan servers. A template specifically designed to articulate the potential energy savings achievable through the demising of these orphan servers will be created Capturing energy-related data for each identified orphan server, such as power consumption and utilization metrics. Identify systems of record and document data requirements Process map the existing data sources and procedures to obtain the information, clearly articulating any gaps.

Skills and Tooling: This role requires strong analytical capabilities, particularly in the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets. Proficiency in data manipulation tools such as Microsoft Excel and SQL will be essential for handling and processing the energy usage data. A thorough understanding of client's data center infrastructure and key energy consumption metrics, such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). Familiarity with energy management software and various monitoring tools used within data center environments will also be critical. A basic understanding of database concepts will aid in data retrieval and analysis. This role requires a strong understanding of : Data center infrastructure and best practices in server inventory management. Proficiency in utilizing Client's inventory management tools and systems is essential for accurately tracking and identifying servers. A solid understanding of server hardware components and their associated energy consumption characteristics. Basic data analysis skills will be required to make initial estimations of potential energy savings based on the identified orphan servers. Expert experience in process mapping, requirements documentation and business case development.

Responsibilities: The Data Center Analyst will be responsible for gathering and analyzing all relevant data pertaining to the demised devices, including their historical energy consumption patterns. Based on this data, the analyst will develop a robust methodology and baseline energy usage forecast for the year. A key responsibility will be the establishment of a tracking mechanism for energy consumption, assuming a monthly reporting cycle. The analyst will also define a clear and accurate methodology for apportioning the overall energy reduction to the specific devices that have been demised. The analyst will also be tasked with specifying the exact requirements for automated reports that can perform these functions efficiently in subsequent initiatives and comprehensively documenting the entire process, from data gathering to savings calculation.
