Summary: The Lead Enterprise Architect will be responsible for shaping and governing digital design and strategy within a complex technical landscape, requiring strategic thinking and architectural expertise. This role involves ensuring the implementation of enterprise architecture principles and technical policies to deliver secure and efficient digital capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess active SC clearance and have a strong background in architecture governance and assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide design governance and assurance across the organisation's digital estate.
- Develop and maintain architecture principles, policies, standards, and sub-strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Translate business problems into robust technical designs, balancing innovation with security and compliance.
- Offer technical and strategic guidance to digital programmes, projects, and services to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture direction.
- Engage with both technical and business stakeholders, understanding their needs and making informed design decisions based on complexity, risk, and impact.
- Design systems characterised by medium to high levels of complexity and strategic importance, often spanning multiple services or business domains.
Key Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience as an Applications, Technical, Solution, or Enterprise Architect.
- Demonstrated experience in developing architectural strategy, policies, and processes.
- Strong background in architecture governance and assurance.
- Skilled in writing and reviewing technical design documentation.
- ISEB certification plus one of the following: ITIL Certification, IT4IT Certification, COBIT Certification.

Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a similar architectural role within the public sector , defence , or secure environments .
- Experience working with or alongside strategic outsourcing partners .
- Familiarity with MOD or government security and IT policies , such as JSP440, SPF, and GPG frameworks, and their practical application in secure digital environments.
