Summary: The Engineering Procurement Professional role at BAE Systems involves managing procurement activities for a training center in Barrow-in-Furness, ensuring the delivery of quality products and services while adhering to cost and schedule requirements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, control, execute, and monitor all in-scope transactional procurement and major subcontracting activities with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and agree on procurement strategies for assigned areas and lead the implementation of plans.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure engagement and buy-in to contracting strategies.
  • Support supplier assessment and due diligence to ensure effective supplier selection.
  • Negotiate for optimized business outcomes and record cost savings/cost avoidance.
  • Manage sub-contract changes and resolve internal/external issues affecting material supply.
  • Update SAP eDMS/Teamcenter with accurate procurement activity information.
  • Review supplier performance against quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships and support Supplier Improvement Plans.
  • Contribute to business-wide change/improvement projects and deliver coherent subcontract documents.

Key Skills:

  • Prior procurement/supply chain experience (essential).
  • Experience in engineering/maritime/defence industries (beneficial).
  • In-depth knowledge of in-scope products/services.
  • Understanding of product nuclear safety and environmental impact.
  • Knowledge of Control Account Management duties.
  • Ability to deliver value for money through commercial activities.
