Summary: The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering workstreams for large-scale district heating projects in the renewable energy sector, based in central London. This role involves leading engineering teams, coordinating design development, and ensuring quality assurance throughout various project phases. The position requires collaboration with project management and stakeholders, as well as preparation of essential project documentation and cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for engineering workstream on the project, leading the engineering team with internal and external members.
- Coordinating the design development of the project throughout the phases and setting out design requirements.
- Support and align with Project Manager and PMA to assist and provide information to stakeholders.
- Preparation of project phase-dependent documents, including terms of reference and tenders for design consultants.
- Preparation of cost estimates.
- Participation in project meetings, negotiations, evaluation of bids, and preparation of award recommendations.
- Ensuring quality assurance and quality control during all project phases.
- Preparation of meeting reports and presentations.
- Keeping up-to-date on project and technological developments.
- Acting as a sparring partner for the Project Manager and project management team.
- Using people skills to build and motivate engineering teams.
Key Skills:
- Degree in process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or power plant engineering.
- Experience in planning and project management.
- Knowledge of heat generation processes and district heating networks.
- Leadership qualities and excellent analytical skills.
- Focus on safety and safety in design.
- Experience in scheduling and engineering processes.
- Ability to work in teams with cultural sensitivity.
