Summary: The Electrical Project Manager will lead the delivery of a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Carrington, overseeing all electrical works from planning to execution. This long-term contract role involves managing site teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with stakeholders to achieve project milestones. Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing all electrical aspects of the BESS project from pre-construction through to completion
  • Leading site teams including supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors (including large teams of industrial electricians)
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes and ensuring works are delivered in line with key milestones
  • Overseeing electrical installation works including HV/LV systems, cabling, containment, switchgear, transformers, and associated infrastructure
  • Ensuring compliance with all health & safety regulations, site procedures, and industry standards
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and progress reviews
  • Coordinating with the client, main contractor, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Managing budgets, procurement of materials, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing and approving RAMS, technical drawings, and commissioning plans
  • Supporting testing, commissioning, and final handover processes
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and resolving any technical or operational issues

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience working as an Electrical Project Manager on large-scale industrial or energy projects
  • Strong background in heavy industrial environments such as substations, renewables, power generation, or infrastructure
  • Previous experience delivering BESS projects or similar is highly desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and installation practices
  • Demonstrable experience managing large site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of project planning, commercial management, and programme delivery
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification
  • ECS/CSCS card (black card preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and drive projects to tight deadlines

Electrical Project Manager – BESS Project (Carrington) – £650 per day

We Build Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead delivery on a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project based in Carrington.

This is a long-term contract opportunity on a large-scale energy infrastructure scheme, offering a highly competitive day rate and the chance to play a key leadership role within one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK energy market.

The Role

As Electrical Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of all electrical works on site. You will be overseeing the installation, commissioning, and handover of complex electrical systems within a live industrial environment.

Project Details

10-hour working days (typically 7:00am start)

Long-term contract – approximately 12+ months of work

Requirements

Proven experience working as an Electrical Project Manager on large-scale industrial or energy projects

Strong background in heavy industrial environments such as substations, renewables, power generation, or infrastructure

Previous experience delivering BESS projects or similar is highly desirable

Excellent knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and installation practices

Demonstrable experience managing large site teams and subcontractors
