Summary: The Data Protection Consultant role is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Central Bristol, focusing on enhancing the Data Protection team within a leading real estate provider. The position involves providing expert advice on UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, leading incident investigations, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective risk management. The consultant will also be responsible for maintaining internal data protection policies and assisting with audits and KPI monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Lead on incident investigations and coordinate responses to data subject rights requests
- Conduct and review DPIAs
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders
- Maintain/improve internal data protection policies and procedures
- Co-manage the data protection inbox and respond to internal queries
- Assist in preparing for internal audits and monitoring data protection KPIs
Key Skills:
- Holds a recognised data protection qualification (e.g. BCS, IAPP CIPP/E, or similar)
- At least 3 years of experience in a dedicated data protection, privacy, or compliance role
- Strong understanding of the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
- Skilled at building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
